About the Host

Damon Redfern

Karma Trekkers' Damon RedfernDamon Redfern was born in the UK, but his parents relocated to Chile when he was only 4 years old, and then to Peru when he was 8. He was educated in Spanish and tutored by an archeologist who let him play with ancient Incan artifacts. He also acted in school plays and developed an interest for the arts. Damon's childhood in South America nurtured his growing interest in other cultures.

When he was 9, Damon returned to the UK to attend school, but continued to visit his parents while they worked abroad. By the time he was 15, he'd already traveled around the world several times. After he finished school he joined the Voluntary Service Overseas, the British equivalent of the Peace Corps, and was assigned to be a teacher in Uganda. His experiences in the service only solidified his love for exploring unique destinations.

Damon got his Master's Degree at Duke University and decided to pursue a future in theatre, film and television. In the course of his long career he has worked with Sandy Dennis, Stella Stevens, Patsy Kensitt, Henry Jones, Larry Linville, Christopher Plummer, Gene Wilder, Alan Young, Lou Gosette and many others. His roles have spanned all genres from Mercutio in "Romeo and Juliet", John Worthing in "The Importance of Being Earnest" to Riffraff in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show".

Damon has always maintained a fascination with the nature of the human condition and as the host of Karma Trekkers he has had the opportunity to explore history, culture, spirituality and mystical wonders all over the world.
